The blossom is out - is there a better time of the year?

I love my cherry blossom tree (do I say that every year?).
When we bought our house and they said they would be planting a cherry tree I was beyond excited.
Having seen pictures of the annual cherry blossom festivals in Japan, the idea that I could have my own little piece of this in the corner of my tiny garden in Wiltshire was perfect.
And 10 years later the tree is more gorgeous than ever.
Each year I anticipate the blossom arriving not just because of the beauty it brings, but because it marks the end of winter and the start of spring. It marks the time when my whole garden comes back, not just to life- but also creates new life. I mooch around my garden and the tulips are out and the hosta leaves are starting to appear from the plant pots that have looked barren all winter. But this year I can hear that we are lucky enough to have blackbirds who have built a nest behind the cherry tree to raise their young.
I have drawn a lot of inspiration from this tree. I just find I am drawn to it when its in blossom especially as the blossom is so delicate, but also so fleeting. The blossom bursts into life and the wind quickly takes it away, to be replaced with green leaves; I have to appreciate it while I can.
Anyway, the wind has been blowing and now my lawn is covered in pink blossom petals, in fact it's now pink not green, and it's all over the car. Actually, it's everywhere; it's in my washing too, and all over the bathroom. How is that even possible?

So if you love blossom too and you are looking for cards with cute little birds on - go check out my Etsy shop.
